Storyline of Effa Movie

Penny Marshall to direct a biopic centered around Effa Manley, the American sports executive who became the first woman to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. The Effa Manley story is one of glass ceilings broken in WWII-era sports, with the African American woman serving as co-owner of the Newark Eagles baseball franchise with her husband Abe Manley from 1935 to 1946, and sole owner through 1948 after his death.
